Behavioral Change and Communication
In collaboration with Constituency Aids Control Council (CACC) Kabete office, Masafa Arts carried out a six months programme dubbed Behavioral Change and Communication. The programme was a huge success reaching out to over 2000 community members majority being the youth. The programme was conducted through street theatre or magnet theatre. Street or Magnet theatre is the organization’s means of reaching out to the general community.
We use magnet theatres in our community to entertain, educate and inform people about contentious issues in the society. This is achieved through short educative skits, dance performances and choreographed verses coupled with professional advice on the issue at hand.
Home based theatre SHOWS
The organization has been actively involved in stage performances. It has showcased masterpieces that have won trophies. This used to be the main income generating activity of the organization. It has since ventured into other IGA for sustainability. This initiative is also a means of tapping and nurturing the artistic talent around the local community. The plays are staged in community halls of which some are charged and some are free. The plays are thematic and educative, usually revolving around an ongoing contentious occurrence in the community or around the nation.
This is the main income generating activity of the group. Masafa Arts hires sound equipment; Public Address to a diverse base of clients. We hire sound to corporate events, wedding events, individual events, state events or any event where a public address or a music system is needed. The system comes with an operator, professional technicians and an optional Disk Jockey.
The revenue collected from the Public Address is ploughed back to facilitate the programmes of the organization. Hiring our public address not only ensures you get value for your money but also makes our clients part of the life changing programmes of the organizations.
Do you have an upcoming event? Do not hesitate to contact us and become part of the change we so much desire in our society.
FCC (FEED & CLOTH A CHILD)
Masafa Arts and friends of Masafa makes monthly contributions (out of self will) to the programme dubbed FCC (Feed & Cloth a Child). The programme identifies needy and deserving children enrolled in primary school education and buys for them full school uniforms and pays for their school feeding programme. This keeps the children in school especially in cases where food is hard to come by at home. The child does not miss school because they will also have something to eat at school. We also assists local childrens Homes operating on thin budget by procuring and offering food stuffs to support the Home. We also collect donations in kind from community for offering. As a society it is our responsibility to take care of those in need. Join the programme by making your donations through the paybill number below.
Environmental Management and Conservation
Environmental degradation is a worrying concern in current times. Poor environmental conservation practices across the globe, more so in the developing nations, are increasingly leading to environmental pollution. In Kenya this is worsened by tree felling for wood, development and or charcoal burning. We engage in tree planting and environmental clean-ups to improve and conserve our environment. We plant trees mainly in state reserves, roadside reserves among other such places. We also conduct clean ups in reserves that are being converted into dumping sites and ensure the relevant authorities follow-up to avoid a re-occurrence of the mess.
Dunda Mtaani, Talent Awareness/ Masafa Arts Dance Competition
One of our objectives is to nurture and support young upcoming artists. We organize an event dubbed Dunda Mtaani Talent Awarenes, the event is meant nurture and appreciate talent in and outside Kabete Constituency.
While the Dunda mtaani encompasses a wide array of artists, it is sometimes conducted as a dance competition exclusive to dancing talent. The Event is called Masafa Arts Dance Competition (MAD Dance.)
This opportunity is also used to reach out to the youth and champion for or create awareness on one or more contentious issue. Sexual reproductive health, peace and governance, drug and substance abuse are among the topics covered. The same event is also used to connect the attending artists (established and upcoming) as they exchange ideas, network and be enlightened on emerging opportunities and financial management.
